With his entrepreneurial spirit and penchant for shaking up the status quo, F. Ron Smith,  along with four of his friends, launched Partners Trust, Pacific Union LA in 2009 with the idea of creating a discerning and conscientious real estate brokerage. Through his leadership style and visionary marketing tactics, the company has since grossed more than $8.5 Billion in sales. In addition to recently being named as one of Variety Magazine’s Los Angeles Real Estate Elite, F. Ron was ranked by the Wall Street Journal as the #24 producing agent in California by sales volume in 2015 as well as 14th in Los Angeles.  In his own right, F. Ron has been involved in more than $2 Billion in residential real estate transactions.

In 2014, to broaden Partners Trust, Pacific Union’s reach worldwide, F. Ron co-founded Leverage Global Partners, an innovative and exclusive network of boutique independent real estate firms from around the world—5,713 agents operating in 16 countries and serving 163 markets, to be exact. As Leverage President, F. Ron has guided the business to success, producing more than $1 Billion in real estate sales across the network.

In 2016, to better serve his clients and grow his own business, F. Ron joined forces with fellow Pacific Union Associate David Berg to form the Smith & Berg team at Pacific Union. The team represents the interests of business leaders, celebrities and residential developers as well as individual buyers and sellers in Los Angeles, brokering some of the most notable sales on the Westside.  F. Ron’s ability to walk into a home and intuitively know the seller’s ideal approach makes him a confident,  gifted and skilled negotiator.  Smith & Berg’s properties are regularly featured in such media outlets as the Los Angeles Times, Angeleno, California Home & Design, Curbed and Hollywood Reporter, among others and he’s a sought after speaker and resource for top media outlets including Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and The Real Deal.

F. Ron’s expertise in new construction aligns with his personal affinity for architecture and design, a passion that he recently applied to the remodel of his own home in Brentwood. Living and working in Los Angeles for the entirety of his professional career—amassing over three decades of experience no less—has translated into an acute awareness of the market as well as a strong community connection. F. Ron is an active supporter of numerous charitable organizations, including Children’s Burn Foundation, LA Family Housing  and Concern Foundation for cancer research, and is a member of the Executive Committee of USC’s Lusk Center for Real Estate. However, no accomplishment is more rewarding nor a greater source of pride than the family he has built alongside Tracy, his wife of 28 years, and their two sons, Evan and Brandon.  

When it’s not a client interaction or the closing of a deal, you can bet that adding fuel to F. Ron’s fire is either the discovery of a vintage tequila or a top-notch espresso drink. His dedicated “research” has concluded that the Mandorla, an almond cappuccino from Caffe Luxxe in Brentwood, is one of the choicest brews around.

My wife and I have known Ron for the last 10 years, and just recently closed escrow on a property on which he represented us. The transaction ended up being longer and more consuming that any of us had anticipated. These are the types of transactions that put everyone to the test. This is where we witnessed Ron’s true performance skills. He exercised his patience, will, determination, and a very high level of enthusiasm for our deal the entire way through. When we first began looking for someone to list and sell my mother’s house in Brentwood, I warned my siblings that brokers who wanted the listing would likely over-promise in order to get it. I’m not a big fan of over-promise because it usually means under-deliver, but I accepted it as part of the process. And boy did you over-promise! You’d have the house landscaped, painted, and beautifully staged in 10 days. It would show like a different house than what it had been. You’d have ten days of showings, and then deliver us multiple offers. You’d get us into escrow within 3 days after that with an offer exactly where we wanted, and you’d have a back up offer behind it. You’d get us a short escrow period, with no contingencies. You’d shepherd the deal through the closing of escrow and make sure everything went smoothly. Oh, and somewhere in the middle of that, you’d make a quick trip to China! Look, I told my siblings, it’s great that he thinks he can get all that done. If he does half of it, we’ll be way ahead. I was right about only one thing - we are way ahead. Because you didn’t over-promise and under-deliver. YOU DELIVERED ON EVERY SINGLE PROMISE YOU MADE. You literally didn’t miss a day on the incredibly aggressive time schedule you set. You did remake the house into something much better than it had been. Within 10 days of its listing, you brought us 7 offers. 3 days later we were in escrow right where we wanted, and there was a back up offer behind it. Escrow closed today, and everything went smoothly due to your shepherding. And despite the fact that I can’t tell when you did it, I know you also went to China! I would compare working with Ron to making fantastic guacamole. First, you need the right ingredients. Second, you have to know the right proportions. Third, you have to mix it just right. And last you need to eat it while it's fresh. When I first met Ron, my lease tenant was moving out rather suddenly. I had anticipated having to pay out a couple of months rent trying to find a new tenant. This was the beginning of December by the way. Ron Smith and David Berg did an excellent job selling our home this past year. They closed our home above our asking price for a record price per square foot in the North of Montana area in a quick and efficient process to a nice couple that was a perfect fit. Ron represented us in buying our home in Santa Monica in 2010, and we have enjoyed a close relationship with him since then and met David within the past couple years. Ron and David work very well as a team and are a pleasure to work with.
